About the initiative

We assess the risks of our supplier chain

We developed a Third-Party Risk Management Program to identify, assess, and manage the risk that the relationship with third parties represents regarding information security, business continuity, data privacy, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, anti-corruption, and financial solvency, among others.
Before starting a business relationship, companies go through a due diligence process in which they are assessed by specialists. Suppliers need to answer several questions and provide details about their structure and the services they will provide. Based on these responses, specialized teams evaluate, classify, and assess the risks of working with the third party, and decide on the necessary mitigation actions.

Managing the outsourcing of services

For service providers whose workers operate in our facilities or provide services remotely with access to the company’s environments, we use document auditing and controls to verify salary payments, social security contributions, and workplace health/accident coverage. Depending on the nature of the work, health and safety documentation may be required. We also conduct regular checks to identify and communicate risks related to outsourcing services, measure how compliant the documents are, and report the results and action plans, among other steps.

Meli Code+

We have a Code of Ethics for Suppliers and Business Partners, which applies to all suppliers of goods and services and business partners of MercadoLibre, Inc. and all of its subsidiaries and affiliates, including contractors, subcontractors, agents, and representatives. This ethical framework includes clear, specific, and transparent guidelines that reflect our purpose and cover the entire value chain. Compliance with the MELI Code+ is required for selecting suppliers, doing business or joint management, and maintaining that relationship over time.
