About the initiative

We compete as a team to win

We believe that embracing diverse experiences fuels innovation and helps us stay ahead of our users’ needs and expectations. That is why we work with two key pillars: inclusion, by ensuring equal opportunities through processes and actions rooted in a culture of meritocracy; and representation, by fostering diversity in backgrounds and experiences to reflect the richness of our user community.
In 2024, we launched the Inclusion Insights Team, an intersectional team dedicated to making sure our initiatives and processes are inclusive, incorporating a wide range of perspectives and experiences to enhance our workplace for everyone. Led by the Inclusion team, this 13-member group represents various communities (such as women, men, 40+, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+, and more), ensuring a mix of backgrounds across countries, tenure, seniority, performance, and cultural alignment.
We also prioritize ensuring an inclusive and respectful environment. Any violation of the MELI Code must be reported. For this, we have a confidential Whistleblower Hotline, available 24 hours a day, allowing anonymous reports.

We have updated our code of ethics, which is now called the MELI Code. The document encapsulates the attributes that are part of our DNA: honesty, fairness, respect, transparency, and integrity.
