About the initiative

Through Mercado Pago, we are committed to promoting financial inclusion in all the countries where we operate, expanding digital access to financial products and services for everyone. This involves creating opportunities to empower as many people as possible, encouraging them to take control of their financial lives.
In addition to inclusion tied to the growth of digital wallets and technology in general, we are committed to promoting Financial Education among our users. Our goal is to help people better understand financial products, concepts, and risks, so they can make informed decisions when it comes to managing their resources.

How we do it

Technology for inclusion

One of the key principles of our business model is using technology to break down the barriers that prevent people from being financially included in the countries where we operate, whether as entrepreneurs or consumers. Thanks to digital transformation, we have developed financial products and payment solutions for people who cannot get a bank account because they do not meet the traditional banking system’s requirements.
With Mercado Pago, we offer digital accounts and payment solutions that make it easier for people to access basic financial transactions, along with investments, credit, and insurance. This allows more people and businesses to manage their finances, operate in the formal economy, and become more financially resilient.

Financial education

With user-friendly tools and easy access, many of our new users are experiencing the opportunity to progress financially for the first time and recognize the importance of learning more about money management. With this in mind, we invest in initiatives that promote financial education in society, particularly for women entrepreneurs and young people.
Our programs are designed to enhance users' understanding of financial products and concepts, helping them develop the skills and confidence to be more aware of financial risks and opportunities.
In Brazil, as part of the Central Bank's (BACEN) regulatory agenda, we established a Financial Education Committee to oversee the implementation and report on the actions recommended by the institution. One of the key developments in 2024 was the creation of our Financial Education Policy. We also have a website with exclusive financial education content for our users.

Female Entrepreneurship

Developed by Mercado Pago in partnership with the organizations Pro Mujer (Hispanic America) and Aliança Empreendedora and Barkus (Brazil), the program aims to equip women with the leadership and management skills necessary to manage their finances and sales.
